Renting out property
Selling out or buying property
You are landlord and want to make sure electricity is safe to use.

Who can carry out an EICR inspection?

Always hire a qualified and certified electrician who is registered with NICEIC, NAPIT or ECA to carry out an EICR inspection. Certified electricians are issued with a registration number which is always mentioned on the report they issue after inspection. You can check authenticity of the report by verifying the enrollment number of electrician. Non registered person can’t carry out the inspection.

What is involved in carrying out the EICR?

The electrician will inspect the fixed electrical installations in a property sockets, lights, electrical circuits, fuse box and air conditioning etc. He will also perform tests by switching off the electricity to take important readings to produce EICR report.

Upon completion of the inspection he will issue you a report either satisfactory or unsatisfactory depending on the electrical condition of your property. You don’t need to do anything if the report is satisfactory but you must have to comply with the instructions given on report if it is unsatisfactory.

Electrical system including wires and other fixed items get older with the passage of time and do not give 100% efficiency, so it is necessary and important to get the inspection done.
